Finance Secretary Mr. Shanta Raj Subedi launched the public website of the Aid Management Platform (AMP) amidst a function at the Ministry of Finance today. AMP is an online website that was set up in 2010 in the Ministry of Finance, with the support of UNDP, DFID and Denmark through the Developing Capacities for Effective Aid Management and Coordination Project. Currently, more than 40 development partners are reporting aid information to this system. The Ministry of Finance has been able to produce various kinds of aid-related documents after the establishment of AMP. The Ministry is also engaged on bringing INGOs on board to capture their aid information in AMP. Similarly, the integration process of AMP with the Government’s Budget Management Information System and Financial Management Information System is under way, in order to track budget and expenditure details.
The AMP public website in Nepal is a big step for the Government and for the aid community as a whole towards greater transparency and accountability for the mobilization of foreign aid in Nepal. The availability of aid data to the public is expected to create new possibilities for AMP data use by the media, civil society, local governments, advocacy groups, private sector, and citizens as a whole.
The AMP public website is now available via the following link: portal.mof.gov.np
Mr. Madhu Kumar Marasini, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance opened up the event and thanked and welcomed all development partners for their active support. Ms. Shoko Noda, Country Director of UNDP also spoke about the significance of the AMP public portal. Finance Secretary Mr. Subedi appreciated her remarks and thanked development partners for their commitment to aid transparency, in addition to requesting their continued support to help sustain the AMP.
