Hon. Finance Minister Mr. Shanker Prasad Koirala launched Development Cooperation Report 2011-12 amidst a function organized by the Ministry of Finance on April 16, 2013.
Hon. Finance Minister Mr. Shanker Prasad Koirala launched Development Cooperation Report 2011-12 amidst a function organized by the Ministry of Finance on April 16, 2013. Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister Mr. Koirala mentioned that the major chunk of the national revenue income is used up for financial and current expenditure and hence, we need to mobilize foreign aid to meet the capital expenditure especially to create the social and physical infrastructure of the country. While stressing the importance of aid effectiveness, he said that all aid should be channeled through national system. On this, he mentioned that all aid amounts should be reflected in the 'Red Book' of the Government and audits of all projects should be carried out by the Auditor General of Nepal.
He emphasized the Government's commitment to make foreign aid transparent and accountable. He mentioned the establishment of Aid Management Platform in the Ministry of Finance in recent years and thanked the Development Partners and Development Gate Way Foundation for helping the Government on this. He appreciated IECCD, MOF for bringing out Development Cooperation Report which is according to him is a good report with all relevant issues on the mobilization of foreign aid in Nepal. He suggested that the way forward suggested in the report could be used in refining the drafts of new foreign aid policy.
In the meeting, Chief of IECCD, MOF, Mr. Madhu Kumar Marasini, made a presentation by highlighting the main issues report.
