Agreement with the Republic of Korea

The Republic of Korea has agreed to provide a grant assistance of USD 4.6 million to the GoN for the establishment of the Disaster Recovery Centre for Government Integrated Data Centre.
The Republic of Korea has agreed to provide a grant assistance of USD 4.6 million (equivalent Rs. 403 million) to the Government of Nepal for the establishment of the Disaster Recovery Centre for Government Integrated Data Centre. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Government of Nepal and the Government of the Republic of Korea, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs represented by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), at the Ministry of Finance.

The objectives of the Project are minimizing the data losses from natural or human-induced disasters through the back-up system of Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC), harvest synergies in the information management of the Government with Government Integrated Data Centre (GIDC) in Singha Durbar and reinforce the close relationship between the two countries through the successful implementation of the Project. For this, KOICA will undertake the construction of the Centre, provide software, equipment and materials, dispatch Korean experts to Nepal, and provide trainings to Nepalese counterparts in Korea. The Project shall be located in Hetauda Municipality .and will be completed within 36 months of the signing this MOU. The project will be implemented by KOICA on behalf of the Republic of Korea and National Information Technology Center (NITC) on behalf of the Government of Nepal.

Mr. Shanta Raj Subedi, Secretary, Ministry of Finance, GON and His Excellency Mr. IL-DOO KIM Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal signed the MOU behalf of their respective Governments.
