A Local Donors Meeting was held in Kathmandu on 10 December 2012. Hon. Finance Minister Mr. Barsha Man Pun chaired the meeting which was attended by almost all Development Partners together with high level GoN officials.
A Local Donors Meeting was held in Kathmandu on 10 December 2012. Hon. Finance Minister Mr. Barsha Man Pun chaired the meeting which was attended by almost all Development Partners together with high level GoN officials.
In the meeting, Hon. Finance Minister spoke about the difficulties encountered to bring a full fledged budget for the FY 2012/13, along with the current macroeconomic situation and Government’s commitment to continue with its economic development plans.
He also assured to the Development Partners that despite the absence of full fledged budget there will not be any shortfall in counter part fund and new budget headings could be provided to foreign aid funded project / programs.
At the meeting, NPC VC Mr. Deependra Bahadur Kshetry talked on the progress made so far on the preparations of upcoming Three Years Development Plan. Similarly, Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada spoke on Nepal’s monetary policy and present financial situation. Finance Secretary Mr. Shanta Raj Subedi made a presentation on current macro economic situation and budget implementation.
The Development Partners suggested the Government of Nepal to focus on maintaining and strengthening DP’s confidence.
They highlighted the need to focus on maximizing development results for the remainder of the fiscal year and ensure a full budget for next year; strengthen accountability; and accelerate progress of key reforms at the technical level especially Public Financial Management (PFM) and investment climate reform.
Development Partners also noted that the forthcoming Nepal Portfolio Performance Review Meeting (NPPR) should define meaningful actions to address development results, accountability, and PFM and other reforms agendas.
