Agreement with the Government of Finland

The Government of Finland has agreed to provide Euro 13.7 million grant assistance (equivalent to NRs 1.85 billion) to the Government of Nepal for the implementation of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Western Nepal (RWSSP WN II), the Completion Phase.
The Government of Finland has agreed to provide Euro 13.7 million grant assistance (equivalent to NRs 1.85 billion) to the Government of Nepal for the implementation of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Western Nepal (RWSSP WN II), the Completion Phase. An Agreement to this effect was signed between the two Governments in the Ministry of Finance, Kathmandu.

The objective of this project is to contribute to improve health, socio- economic status and fulfillment of the equal right to water and sanitation for the inhabitants of the project Area. Initially, the project will be implemented in nine districts of Midwestern and western Nepal namely; Pyuthan, Baglung, Myagdi, Parbat, Syangja, Tanahu, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi. In addition to these districts, the project will be implemented in Gulmi district at a later stage.

The project is expected to cater for improved living standard and the status of public health by ensuring sustainable and equitable water supply and sanitation services. The project duration will be five years starting from September, 2013. Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development will be the implementing agency of this project.

Mr. Madhu Kumar Marasini, Joint Secretary/Chief of International Economic Cooperation Coordination Division, Ministry of Finance and H.E. Mr Asko Luukkainen, Ambassador, Embassy of Finland in Nepal signed the agreement on behalf of their respective Governments.
